Terms of use

Last reviewed 9 August 2026

These terms cover this website. They do not cover the software, which is licensed separately and on different terms.

What these terms apply to

They apply to promtact.com and its subdomains as a published document. They are short because the site does nothing: it has no accounts, no forms, no payment, no scripts and no cookies. There is very little to agree about.

The software is licensed elsewhere

Promtact the program is distributed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or later, with a separate commercial licence available for organisations that need closed-source redistribution, proprietary network use or enterprise terms. Those licences govern the software. Nothing on this page grants, limits or modifies them.

The authoritative texts are LICENSE and COMMERCIAL-LICENSE.md in the repository. Where this page and those files disagree, those files are correct.

Content of this site

Text and diagrams here are provided for information. They describe a program that changes, and a statement that is accurate today may not describe a later version. The documentation in the repository sits beside the code and changes with it, which is why the technical claims on this site link there rather than restating.

You may quote and link to this site. Reproducing it wholesale, or presenting its content as your own, is not permitted.

No warranty

This site is provided as it is. No warranty is given that it is accurate, complete, current or continuously available. Liability for damage arising from access to, use of, or inability to use this site is excluded to the extent Swiss law permits, and this exclusion does not extend to intent or gross negligence.

Warranties and liability for the software are governed by its licence, not by this page. Read the licence before deploying it.

Links to other sites

Links to third-party sites lead outside our control. We do not adopt their content and accept no responsibility for it. Following them is at your own discretion.

Security research

Reporting a vulnerability in this site or in the software is welcome and will not be treated as a breach of these terms. The scope and the reporting route are in the security policy. Testing that degrades the service for others, or that touches data belonging to somebody else, is outside that scope.

Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top says when they were last reviewed. There is no notification mechanism, because there are no accounts to notify.

Governing law

Swiss law applies. The place of jurisdiction is Zurich, Switzerland, to the extent that a mandatory place of jurisdiction does not provide otherwise.
